Featured Projects

Cape Crossing Resort & Marina

Meet some of the visionaries who took the beloved, but deteriorating, Tingley RV Park and Marina (a Merritt Island landmark for more than 50 years), into what is now a destination resort with 47 island-style townhomes and a 6-story condominium tower with 35 water-view units for locals and visitors.

Mall Area Vision

This core commercial area, with high visibility within the 520 Corridor, has great potential.

520 Corridor Beautification

Through this project, significant portions of the SR 520 corridor now exhibit both landscaped medians and perimeter landscaping from the mainland to the ocean.

Veterans Memorial Park

An 82-acre park within a 165-acre stormwater basin, features beautiful lakes, trails and an upcoming entertainment venue.

Veterans Memorial Amphitheatre

Construction begins in 2022 on the amphitheatre outdoor event complex, with tiered lawn seating capacity of 5,000, located within the 66-acre Veterans Memorial Park.

Griffis Landing at Blue Crab Cove

A 2.7-acre historic working waterfront site, with legacy bait shop and wholesale/retail seafood business, is benefiting from a comprehensive improvement plan to enhance historic value and provide waterside family recreation and education.

MERRITT ISLAND

Redevelopment Zones

There are four (4) sub areas within the Merritt Island Redevelopment Area consisting of:

SR 520 Commercial Core Sub-Area (Merritt Island Causeway), adopted 1989 (745.53 acres) and 1991 (280.12 acres), is the primary west/east major arterial road, extending from the Indian River Lagoon on the west and the Banana River Lagoon on the east. It extends north to approximately Merritt Avenue and south to approximately Fortenberry Road.

SR 3 Sub-Area, adopted 2006 (165.7 acres), is the primary north-south corridor through Merritt Island and includes all properties that front on Courtenay Parkway from the SR 528 interchange at the north end to Merritt Avenue at the south end.

Barge Canal Sub-Area, adopted 2013 (981.01 acres), includes SR 528 and the lands to the north that front on the Barge Canal. It extends from the Indian River Lagoon on the west to the Banana River on the east.

Cone Road Sub-Area, adopted 2013 (209.53 acres), encompasses the industrial lands located south of Cone Road and north of the Merritt Island Airport.
