Space Coast Launches Set A Record-Breaking Pace

August 7, 2023 – If it seems like there is less time between launches here on the Space Coast, it’s because that is exactly the case. The time period between the previous SpaceX launch and last night’s mission was less than four days. It’s a record for the company and an impressive feat in engineering.  Not one to let any grass grow under their launch pad, the next SpaceX mission is scheduled for August 10.

Last night’s effort and the next launch are part of the Starlink mission, where the company currently has 4,562 satellites in orbit, delivering broadband internet around the world to 1.5 million customers in 60 countries.

The launches are also remarkable because the cost-savings realized from reusing parts of the space craft. The booster on last night’s mission had previously flown the Crew-6, SES O3b mPOWER and the Starlink 4-4 missions and will probably see action again, after landing safely on the drone ship A Shortfall of Gravitas.
