Known world-wide, Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex is a must stop, the place to look back on space exploration history, stand in awe in the rocket garden, be amazed at the Space Shuttle Atlantis exhibit, and dream of piloting one of these with spaceflight simulators. Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge

140,000-Acre U.S. National Wildlife Refuge

According to agreement with NASA, the lands and waters of the Kennedy Space Center are primarily to serve the space program and secondarily to serve as a wildlife refuge or park. This result is the expansive Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge (MINWR).

  • 140,000 acres
  • Coastal dunes, saltwater marshes, managed impoundments, scrub, pine flatwoods, and hardwood hammocks
  • Habitats for more than 1,500 species of plants and animals (including more than 300 bird species)
  • Home to several federally protected or endangered species
  • FAVORITE STOPS: Haulover Canal/Manatee Observation Deck and Black Point Wildlife Drive.
  • MINWR Visitors Center features interactive displays for young visitors

The refuge stretches to Canaveral National Seashore and lookouts on the way reveal Launch Complex 39A, 39B and the Vehicle Assembly Building on Kennedy Space Center.  Learn more.

Veterans Memorial Center

With an amazing array of military artifacts ranging from the Revolutionary War to our current conflicts in the Middle East

Recognized for its memorial plaza with helicopters, tank, truck and an A-7 aircraft,  inside its expansive collection of military artifacts from the Revolutionary War forward is even more amazing. The Veterans Memorial Center is surrounded by walking trails, nature views and welcomes fishing, kayaking and picnicking. Outdoor events at the Center are a growing attraction. Learn more.

Eighty percent of the Port’s revenue is generated from cruise business, making it imperative to the port to provide the state-of-the art facilities necessary to service today’s largest and most sophisticated cruise ships that now homeport or make a port call for the day.
