Cape Canaveral Hospital named to top-hospital list

March 18, 2024 – Just a couple of miles east of Merritt Island on the 520 Causeway you can visit one of the best hospitals in the world, according to Newsweek Magazine.

Officially, it’s on Newsweek’s list of World Best Hospitals 2024.

That’s a pretty impressive accolade and we’re very proud to be so close to Health First’s Cape Canaveral Hospital.

The lists are based on four data sources: Recommendations from medical experts; patient surveys; hospital quality metrics; and patient outcome reporting methods. Based on those four pillars and their respective weights, a final score was calculated for each hospital.

With more than 300 hospitals in Florida, Cape Canaveral was among 18 Florida hospitals — including just three in Central Florida — on the Newsweek/Statista list.

The news should come as no surprise, since this is the fourth consecutive year that the hospital has made the Newsweek’s list.

This Health First hospital will be moving to Merritt Island in the future, to a 15-acre footprint off Hwy 520. First iteration site plans were approved by MIRA Board of Directors in 2022. Site plan revisions are in progress and no new plans have come before MIRA at this time. Learn more about this redevelopment project here.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the project is scheduled for March 21, 2024.
