Future of Space Industry in Brevard Looks Bright

September 5, 2025 – Orlando Business Journal recently gathered data on the growth of the space industry in central Florida and much of that activity will be happening on Florida’s Space Coast here in Brevard County.

The Spaceport Improvement Program is a state program led by the Florida Department of Transportation and Space Florida, the state’s aerospace finance and development authority, and the program was created to fund projects that improve spaceport facilities, assist with growth of commercial space ventures and more.

A key area for the program is naturally Brevard County, a historic hub for space activity, and a place that continues to put a huge number of payloads into orbit. But looking beyond launches Space Florida see spaceports as a focal point for billions of dollars in investments.

About $700 million in funding has been slated for improvement through 2029 to prepare launch facilities and developing infrastructure.

According to a Space Florida report, since 2012 more than $500 million has been invested in space infrastructure, bringing in an additional $3.3 billion in private funding and more than 5,000 jobs.

There are more than 218 space-related project opportunities being supported by Space Florida and the global space economy is projected to reach $2 trillion by 2040 — a huge leap from $570 billion reported in 2023, according to The Space Foundation.

With two launches a day from the Space Coast already happening, it’s easy to see that Brevard County is really the place to be for companies in the space industry, and this trend looks to continue into the future.
